A Kutoken virtual machine can be more reliable than a single dedicated server because it is hardware independent. All VMs are stored on a centralised SAN, with a decision on which physical machine it should be started on made at startup. In the event of the failure of the physical machine whilst your virtual machine is running, there are no major dramas - we just re-start the VM on a different physical machine automatically. Unlike with a dedicated server, there's no need to wait for a technician to go and investigate and resolve the issue before you're back up and running.
Many other providers of virtual machines use disks local to the physical machine. This makes them just as susceptible to failure as a single dedicated server!
